The focus of this trip is to reach Everest Base Camp and the higher vantage point of Kala Pathar. From the moment you land at the airstrip in Lukla to the moment you depart, you will be surrounded by some of the most incredible mountain scenery in the world. But it is not the remarkable sights alone that keep people coming back to Nepal, it is the kindness and hospitality of the Sherpa people, the colorful mix of cultures and the relaxed pace of life in Everest’s Khumbu region.
Without the presence of cars or mechanized transport of any kind, life moves at a walking pace in the Khumbu. The trek to Everest Base Camp ranks as one of the greatest mountain walks in the world. You will find yourself surrounded by grand Himalayan giants whose beauty will forever be ingrained in your memory. Your first glimpse of Everest is a moment you will never forget. The trek further offers the opportunities to go sightseeing around Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site that is home to a variety of Himalayan floras and faunas, to get a closer look at the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world, and of course, the most gratifying of them all, the trip to Everest Base Camp itself. Along the way trekkers experience the best that the Khumbu and its Sherpa people have to offer.

Our initial target as we follow the route of the Khumbu Glacier is to reach Gorak Shep, last village before Everest Base Camp. Gorak Shep is unique in its claim to being the highest populated settlement on earth. This old yersa, or seasonal yak grazing area, has become the last outpost before Everest Base Camp.
After a quick carbo load we set off to walk to the summit of Kala Pathar, or walk to EBC depending on weather, the literal high point of our trek. Sitting at 5,550m,it is impossible not to be moved by the beauty of what surrounds us, and the emotion of achieving this significant physical feat. Mt Everest is directly in view and is simply awe-inspiring; it seems like we can touch it. We stay overnight in Gorak Shep.
Day 12: Trek to EBC (5,365m./17,705ft)
We continue to sidle the Khumbu Glacier for 3 hours until we start to descent onto the Glacier itself and directly to the site of Mt Everest Base Camp. The satisfaction of achieving this goal is indescribable; the Khumbu lcefall is clearly in view, as is the climbers’ route to the high camps
beyond. We return to Gorak Shep for lunch and trek continue down to Lobuche. Overnight stay in Lobuche.
Day 13: Trek down to Pangboche (3,900m./12,870ft)
We retrace our steps as we head down the valley, past Thukla and Pheriche, and to the Pangboche. Trekking on the descent seems so much easier compared to the thin air that we have experienced for the last three days.
Day 14: Trek down to Namche.
Back through the rhododendron forest, a famous apple pie at Kanjuma and on to Namche – first hot shower after few days!
Day 15: Trek down to Phakdingma.

Our penultimate day in the Everest Valley sees us back where we started. A time to relax in the extremely comfortable La-Villa Sherpani Resort, and after a hot shower we allow ourselves a cold beer or wine, a steak or chicken sizzler with our whole staff, and the satisfaction that comes from the achievement of a major challenge.
Day 17: fly back to Kathmandu.
Early in the morning we catch a flights out of Lukla and have our last close up views of the Himalayas. We land in Kathmandu and go straight to the hotel. Rest and relaxation normally dominates the afternoon.
