Langtang Goshaikunda Trek

Trip Introduction

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a beautiful journey in Nepal through lush forests, quaint Tamang villages, abundant wildlife and astounding views of the majestic Himalayas. Trip begin with sightseeing in Kathmandu and then  we drive to Syabrubesi, located on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River and from where our trek begin. We trek to Kyanjin Gompa and then climb Tserko Ri. From there we get magnificent views of the Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft) range. after, we continue trekking in the stunning Langtang Valley and reach Gosaikunda Lake which is popular pilgrimage for both Buddhists and Hindus. We pass by a few more lakes on our trek and cross the Laurebina Pass. Another highlight of our hike is to reach the top of Ama Yangri at 3,800m. From here, Mt. Shishapangma and the Langtang ranges seem so close that we feel that we can almost touch them. We continue trekking in the Helambu region for a few more days and end our remarkable journey to the mountains with a drive to Kathmandu.

 

Experience Required

This trek is suitable for fit walkers or those with previous trekking experience. If you are a regular weekend hill walker, this would be a good next trek for you.


Detail Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will take you to the Hotel.

 



Day 02: Kathmandu: sightseeing

After the  breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu including Monkey temple, Durbar Square and Boudhanath Stupa, a biggest Buddhist Stupa in the world. 

 



Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft), 7-8 hours drive

we drive to Syabrubesi, a starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. 

 



Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hour hike

we begin our trek along the Langtang Khola. We ascend and descend simultaneously through oak and rhododendron forests. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang River, we ascend on a steep trail which will lead us to the Lama Hotel. 

 



Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village, 6-7 hours hike

We continue gradually climb by enjoying the mountain landscape with abundant waterfalls. . Our trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary settlements used by Yak herders. We pass through Buddhist Langtang village which was affected by the April 2015 earthquake and continue our trail to Mundu. 

 



Day 06: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft), 4-5 hours hike

Today is a pretty easy day. we will start our journey to Kyangjin Gompa, a principal monastery of the region. We pass by water mills, prayer wheels, Stupas, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.  

 



Day 07: Acclimatization: Hike to Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft), 7-8 hours hike

Today we climb to Tserko Ri from where we have a View of stunning surrounding  high peaks.  The trail passes through yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri. after spending few hours on Tserko Ri, we come down to Kyangjin. 

 



Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours hike

Today we come  all the downhill  to Lama hotel pass though forests, yak herders and beautiful villages.

 



Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,230m/ 7,316 ft), 5-6 hours hike

After the breakfast, we begin our trek with a climb up to the Rimche Village and then  we descend to the banks of the Langtang, reaching Bamboo and we ascend to Thulo Shyabru.

 



Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa, 3-4 hours hike

Today is an easy day. After trekking for a while we pass by a buddhist stupas.  we move south and pass by Garta Village and Phulung Monastery before reaching Shin Gompa. 

 



Day 11: Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,460m/14,632ft), 5-6 hours walk

Today we enjoy the magnificent View of the Annapurnas, Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang. We follow a ridge for the most part of the day and catch a glimpse of the first of the holy lakes. The third lake, Gosaikunda (4380m), is of particular religious and cultural significance for both Hindus and Buddhist, and is one of Nepal’s most sought after pilgrimage sites. 

 



Day 12: Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3,440m/11,286ft), 6-8 hours hike

We move around the lake’s shore before ascending towards the Laurebina Pass (4610m). The Helambu region begins at the Lauribina La (pass) and descends to the Melamchi valley. We pass through three more small lakes before reaching the pass. We climb a small hill and enjoy stunning views of the area. Our trail passes through Surya kunda before reaching Ghopte. 

 



Day 13: Ghopte to Melamchigaon (2,560m/8,399ft): 6-7 hours hike

Today undulating trail passing  through dense forests to Thare Path. We climb a ridge above the village and continue our trek.  we cross few suspension bridges before reaching Melamchigaon which is a beautiful village. 

 



Day 14: Melamchigaon to Tarkeghyang (2,590m/8,497ft), 5-6 hours hike

Our trail passes through forests that lead up to Ama Yangri  located at 3,800m. we get stunning views of Mt. Shishapangma and the Langtang ranges. The mountains are so close that we feel that we can almost touch them. As we descend we can often see yaks grazing in the bushes before entering a forest. 

 



Day 15: Tarkeghyang to Sermathang (2,610m/8,563ft), 3-5 hours hike

Today is another pretty easy day, we start our trek passing through lush forests. We also pass by beautiful villages, chortens, a monastery and a mani wall before reaching Sermathang, a beautiful Sherpa Village. we get an incredible views of Ganesh Himal, Jugal Himal and the Langtang ranges. 

 



Day 16: Trek to Melamchi Bazaar, drive to Kathmandu: 3-4 hours trek, 2 hours drive

Today we  trek through meadows, fields and beautiful villages to reach Melamchi Bazaar. From here we drive back to Kathmandu. getting fresh after two weeks in mountain, we go for traditional Nepali Cuisine dinner.

 



Day 17: Kathmandu

Today is basically a rest day but you can either go for shopping to buy souvenir  for your family, friends. or you can do a sightseeing around kathmandu.


 

Day 18: Final Departure

Today you are flying back home. we will drop you to airport three hour before your flight.

Weather conditions and health of team members can all contribute to changes. Our Sherpa guides will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.

What are excluded

 

  • Nepal entry visa fee(USD $25 for 15 days, 40 for 30 day and 100 for 90 days), you may easily issue the visa upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport.
  • International airfare to/from Kathmandu.
  • Charges incurred as a result of delays or itinerary changes beyond the control of Sherpa Land Adventure. We recommend travel insurance to cover any unforeseen costs.
  • Your Travel and rescue insurance

Gears

You are advised to consider the following equipment as essential while packing. Please use this list as a guideline. Adjustments to the list can be managed according to your requirements, interests, duration of trip, and season of trip.  We can find a variety of these items to hire locally or buy in Kathmandu. It is important to remember that our luggage will be carried by porters and there is a weight limitation of approximately 33 pounds (or 15 kg).   Head:
